As simple as it may sound, prayer is often misunderstood which leads to its malpractice. And one of the most common interpretations known and taught by churches is that prayer is a request or petition made to God who listens and answers. To one extreme, it is often treated not any better than just a Christian genie in a bottle.
This first sermon of the series unpacks the first essential of prayer - what it really means and does to the actual person who prays, rather than the external condition or situation. There is something powerful that God does within the person as he / she prays - a re-alignment of his / her interest to God's interest; an elevation of his / her soul to God's mind, will and emotion.
